Tip! 4- There are a great many companies that specialize in wheels; they would be an excellent choice as a starting point when beginning your search. These stores will allow you to see the actual wheel, to get a feel of how it will look when mounted on your SUV.
We all dream of a place to go to that is ours. Somewhere near the ocean, in the woods or in warm climate. Some folks buy Time shares or condos. Some even buy 2 or 3 vacation homes. But most of us do not have the resources to do that, especially if you’re a Redneck like me. But I found a great solution.
A Trailer or 5th Wheel.
No, I am not suggesting you live like trailer trash, I really think this is a good idea, and I did it last year in Sequim, Washington.
Tip! Many of the custom wheel manufacturers change their line of custom wheels frequently. When they do they are often left with old stock.
I love Fishing at John Wayne Marina, in Sequim, Washington. I go there every weekend to Halibut and Salmon fish, along with a little crabbing. It’s about 150 miles from our home and it really gets old driving it all summer.
We looked at land up there, and it averages about $150,000. So we did a little math and here is what we came up with.
I already have a 26 ft trailer, so lets say it cost about $20,000. About the same as a down payment for land up there. Then, if you actually bought some property up there, you still need utilities installed and monthly utility payments every month. Also the average monthly property payment of $1000.00, to $1600.00 including taxes.
Yes, some would argue that it’s an investment, but what if you hate it in 5 years and can’t get rid of it?
So we took our 26 ft Trailer to Sequim Bay RV Resort, right across the street from John Wayne Marina, and setup a monthly site with them for $400.00 a month.
Now we have our own place in Sequim. We can come and go anytime we want and know one cares if we have our two dogs with us.
Tip! If the stores local to your area are not satisfactory, then you could always try to search on the internet. Besides loads of information regarding SUV wheels, you will find images of all kinds of rims and wheels which are designed specifically for the SUVs made today.
So tell me. Does it make more sense to buy a trailer, and locate it where you want at about 65% less cost than buying a piece of land. Is it not true that a loan to buy land, would cost more a month in interest, than $400.00 a month?
You now have a vacation home and extra money to actually enjoy it. So go by a new or used trailer and move it around the country. It’s Great!!

Tip! The most popular of the color matched custom wheels are wheels that are painted or powdered coated to match the color of a vehicle. In this case the entire wheel is painted or powdered coated.

Tip! After WWII, auto racing enthusiasts introduced new technologies and materials to every aspect of race cars to reduce weight and improve speed and handling. One of those improvements, ‘mag wheels’ remains in the vernacular to this day.
A few years back, a friend of mine brought over his newly purchased and “gently used” 325i to my home. I was nearly as excited for him as he was for himself as this was the car that he had always wanted. A recent promotion and raise at work meant he could ditch his LeSabre for something a bit more classier and a bit more expensive. As he rolled into my driveway I gave the car a good “once over” before my eyes rested on his front left wheel. While the rest of his car looked showroom new, his front wheels were absolutely filthy. So, what was the culprit that messed up my friend’s wheels? Please read on to find out all the sordid details!
Brake dust. Yes, something as simple as dust from the 325i’s brakes messed up my friend John’s wheels. I handed him a sponge and a towel with some lukewarm water and he immediately began to touch up the alloy wheels and tires. Unfortunately, this was only a temporary fix as a few days later his wheels were messed up again. By that time, however, he had already ordered a set of brake dust shields to take care of the problem. Honestly, I never knew such a product existed until he told me about it.
Tip! Typical accessories found on dually pick up trucks are grille guards, nerf bars, headache racks, bed rails, mud flaps and large custom wheels. Turn your Chevy, Ford or Dodge dually diesel into a beast with custom wheels from Alcoa.
When John’s brake dust shields arrived, I helped him install them and was impressed how easy they went on his car. Brake dust shields are fitted right into the wheel, kind of like an internal hubcap. Each shield is a one piece unit that fits into place without any sort of special tool needed. John’s shields were sized just right for his wheels [order by wheel size to make sure] and his car no longer looks dirty. Best of all, his remaining warranty is not voided with this highly functional aftermarket part.
Another thing I learned about brake dust is that besides looking bad, brake dust can eat away at alloy rims. You can’t use harsh chemicals on your rims to remove the dust nor should you use a high powered spray. Instead, brake shields [or brake dust covers as some people call them] take away the problem altogether leaving your wheels looking great at all times. Brake dust shields are vented too to allow your brakes to cool down.
Brake dust shields are available through select auto parts stores including the Auto Parts Warehouse’s always open online store.

Tip! Chevy lovers can choose a model 160251 LTS 5 spoke 8 bolt for the front or a model 161292 Hot Shot 8 bolt for the rear. If you have a Ford dually choose a 160291 ‘Classic 8′ 8 bolt and Dodge owners can also find these same wheels for their dually trucks.

Tip! After a week or so, depending on how much usage and dirt your car sees, you’ll want to first hose off all the loose dirt and grit from the wheels (the last thing you want to do is polish it into the metal, scratching the surface) and give them a wash with mild soapy warm water. Despite the availability of many cleaners on the market, this is the best way to keep the wheels clean and undamaged.
Why Choose Alloy Wheels?
A set of aftermarket alloy wheels will improve the appearance of your car and make it stand out from the crowd. Alloy wheels will reduce the unstrung weight of a vehicle compared to one fitted with standard steel wheels. As a result your car will benefit from precise steering as well as slightly better fuel economy.
Improved Safety And Performance.
Alloy is an excellent conductor of heat, improving heat dissipation from the brakes, reducing the risk of brakes failing when your car is subjected to tough driving conditions. There are also performance benefits in the steering response and road holding, especially around corners. Keeping Your Alloys In Top Condition.
Tip! Black wheels are usually painted black and clear coated. Hyper black is a powder coated process that adds much more depth to a custom wheel.
It is important to keep your alloy wheels clean and in good condition. You can do this using a soap and water based solution. Other products such as wheel wax are also available. Avoid products with chemicals that can cause deterioration in the finish of your alloy wheels.
Before choosing and purchasing a new set of alloys, ensure that they are the right type for your car. Remember, fitting a large set of alloys will give different handling characteristics to that of the smaller set ( i.e. upgrading from 14″ alloys to 15″ alloys ) you may have on your vehicle at the moment.
Also, don’t neglect the tyres you fit to your alloys. This is imperative. Ensure that the best rubber grade is fitted on your front tyres ( if front wheel drive ) and that they are matching spec.
Tip! You can save hundreds of dollars just by taking some time to compare the discount car rim deals you can find online. Many online automotive merchants offer your wheels balanced and shipping all for free.

Tip! Part of my research consisted of trying to contact some webmasters focusing on Hot Wheels. I spoke with the owner of www.
American Racing has again introduced the classic vintage Vector SE Series 47 wheels. The Vector SE was originally introduced by American Racing on that very popular orange 1969 Dodge Charger, the General Lee. The General Lee was the star of the 1970s and 1980s hit TV series The Dukes of Hazzard.
The Dukes of Hazzard was about racing on the backs roads of Hazzard County, Georgia. In the early 1980’s the TV series was thrilling Saturday evening viewing. You just could not miss one single episode as the Duke Boys (Bo and Luke) tried to get away from, out fox and out jump the tricky and materialistic Boss Hog along with his child like henchman Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane as they run around Hazzard County in their souped-up orange Dodge Charger named, The General Lee.
The popular TV series ran from 1979 to 1985. The cast included John Schneider (Bo Duke), Tom Wopat (Luke Duke); Sorrell Brooke played Boss Hogg and James Best portrayed the not so bright Sheriff. The sexy Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke) dashed across the screen wearing the skimpiest of cut-off shorts provided the glamour. Country singer Waylon Jennings narrated the episodes and also gave us the theme song “Good Ol’ Boys.” Episodes can still be seen on Country Music Television (CMT)
Tip! Typical accessories found on dually pick up trucks are grille guards, nerf bars, headache racks, bed rails, mud flaps and large custom wheels. Turn your Chevy, Ford or Dodge dually diesel into a beast with custom wheels from Alcoa.
American Racing considers the Vector SE the “Official Landing Gear of the General Lee.” Choose sizes 15 X 7 inch and 15 X 8.5 inch with many different offsets, back spacing and bolt circle patterns for that just right fitment. American Racing Vector SE Series 47 wheel have the style and appeal that brings back many memories of the 1970s and 1980s. If you remember the classic looks of the General Lee then you will love these wheels.
